What is a Security Risk Assessment?
A Security Risk Assessment is a comprehensive, on-site evaluation of your facility, people, policies, and procedures to identify vulnerabilities, threats, risks and recommend layered protections. We examine: perimeter and access control, surveillance and lighting, people flow, emergency response readiness, staff training, reporting/documentation practices and much more. Deliverables include a highly detailed report listing all the findings and a prioritized roadmap to address and mitigate issues. Security Risk Assessments are conducted by Certified Protection Professionals who have the required qualifications.

Our Assessment Process
1. Discovery & Scoping
We begin with a consultation to understand your facility, operations, concerns, and security goals. We gather preliminary information, discuss available funding opportunities, and develop a clear scope of work and estimate. We can also help you determine whether it makes sense to apply for funding first or seek reimbursement after the assessment.
2. On-Site Assessment
Our assessor team conducts a comprehensive review of your facility and operations. This may include exterior and interior inspections, access and egress analysis, CPTED principles, physical security measures, security technology, emergency procedures, incident history, and staff practices.
3. Analysis & Reporting
We analyze the information collected and prepare a comprehensive report that includes:

Short-, medium-, and long-term recommendations

Prioritized implementation roadmap
4. Implementation Planning & Support (Optional)
After the assessment, organizations may choose to pursue implementation funding and move forward with recommended improvements. We can assist with project planning, technology specifications, vendor recommendations, policy updates, training requirements, and other implementation activities.
Free Security Assessments
through the ASIP Grant
ASIP provides grant funding to organizations serving communities at risk of hate- or bias-motivated incidents. Funding covers security assessments, infrastructure/enhancements, education & training, and certain immediate response needs.
There are two application types:

Regular grant (funding forward for assessments/enhancements/training)

Cost-recovery grant (reimbursement for eligible costs incurred after program start dates)
Typical funding amounts (current guidance):

Security assessment: up to $10,000

Security enhancements: up to $25,000

Education & training: up to $10,000
-
Physical patrolling: up to $20,000 for eligible schools (temporary expansion)

ASIP generally supports Alberta facilities operated by registered non-profits that serve communities at risk of hate/bias-motivated incidents (e.g., faith-based institutions, cultural organizations, community centres, and some educational institutions).
